You learn how to organize the files on a disk by using subdirectories. You learn how to create, maintain and remove nested subdirectories, how to copy files across subdirectories. Topics also include how to backup and restore your data files. Participants receive a free diskette of utility software to help manage your hard disk.

Computer Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

No matter what your level of computer literacy, you probably know what the phrase "The computer is down" means. How do you know when it is time to call a technician or whether the problem is something you can fix yourself? Even if you would prefer not to make any repairs yourself, your ability to make a well-informed diagnosis will go a long way toward helping to get your computer back up and running quickly. In this workshop we will look at some common problems and how to tell if the problem is due to software or hardware failure. Preliminary problem solving suggestions, preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, configuration files, and other topics will be discussed. Participants will receive a free diskette of utility software designed to help diagnose and prevent problems.
